THEANO POINT, LAKE SUPERIOr

A pristinely wild and remote 300 acre peninsula of privately owned Lake Superior shoreline, beaches, bluffs, and forests.  Theano Point is adjacent to Lake Superior Provincial Park and is located in unceded Robinson-Superior Treaty 60 Territory, in Ontario’s Algoma region, famously painted by The Group of Seven painters.  Theano Point is a one hour drive from Sault Ste. Marie Airport and the Michigan U.S.A. border. The incredibly dramatic topographic diversity of Theano Point is set against the coastal climate of an “inland sea” on the second largest fresh water lake on the planet. This private natural paradise provides artists with a potent and unique experience in which to become immersed in the wonders of the wild.

NEW WORLD ISLAND, NEWFOUNDLAND

An ocean-front off-grid salt-box cabin on New World Island, traditional unceded territory of the Beothuk People, Newfoundland, Canada, welcomes artists, writers, and researches to the circle of islands off Newfoundland’s fabled North Shore. Situated between Fogo Island and Twilingate Island, our cozy cabin on New World Island offers artists a rural experience of solitude within close proximity to fantastical Fogo via the Ferry at Farewell, the causeway to the galleries and restaurants in Twilingate in 20 minutes, or a 60 minute drive to Gander airport. Traditional fishing villages and wild coastal cliffs are the jumping off point to adventures in Gros Morne National Park or the Avalon Peninsula.

WILD MILL STUDIOS, ONTARIO

A restored century mill, schoolhouse, and general store provides historic live-work space. Our stone mill studio apartment perched over a stream and pond is in a picturesque hamlet on the edge of the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO world biosphere reserve. Conveniently located halfway between Lake Ontario and Georgian Bay, artists can enjoy day trips down to the big city, around the nearby quaint towns, or up to the beach.  Artists enjoy studio space and comfortable amenities (including wifi) just steps from the wilds of the Pine River Valley and the Bruce Trail.   Wild Mill Studios is a 90 minute drive from Pearson International Airport and provincial capital city Toronto, but a world away in the heart of a rural paradise.
