- call for artists -
‘ future ancestors ‘
Where is the past in your future?
What kind of ancestor are you?
Solo artists or duo collaborators are invited to submit proposals for self-directed residencies in either July, August or September 2019.
Artists proposing work related to themes of: ancestry, tradition, storytelling, folklore, fable, narrative, history, mythology, or psychogeography; and who wish to create a series or body of work in response to this rustic, rural, wild, northern Newfoundland island location are warmly invited to apply.
Step back in time to find pathways to new futures. Forge your own fable in this wild, shifting, coastal landscape.
Fees for this residency are individually assessed to support the length of your stay. Rates for residency at this private off-grid ocean-front cabin are awarded for stays ranging from one week to one month, for between one and four people, with no extra charge for children in our interest to support artists who are parents.
A personal vehicle or rental car is necessary for access to local amenities and to explore the wilds of this rugged rural coast. Transportation, food and art materials are the responsibility of the artist. While basic cell service is available, unplugging from technology is encouraged and therefore electricity is not provided.
